Jerry Arnold is a self-taught artist.
In 1972 he became an artist full-time, experimenting with pen and ink drawings.
Later he changed to brush and colored ink in order to achieve the style he now uses and prefers.
"Painting in ink opened many doors where black line drawings held me back. With the brush and colored ink I could achieve the realism I was looking for. Painting in ink is not a common practise among artists. It is a very difficult medium to use. Once it is applied it dries instantly, therefore no turning back. You can't correct your mistakes.
I chose this medium through chance and experimenting because it can produce a very clear, sharp, precise image. I am able to achieve the high point, realistic style I so love to do. I don't want the viewer just to see it, I want them to feel it, like I feel it.
Since I turned professional in 1976 I see the world in a different way. There is so much beauty and there are so many subjects to paint that in my lifetime I will enjoy and take in and do as much as I can.
Each one of my works is a statement that can be enjoyed over and over for generations to come."
Jerry has owned his gallery now for 15 years. Had worked for Webster Galleries for 4 years, and before that he displayed his work with the Great Western Artists for 15 years. Living in Southern Alberta has given Jerry a vast variety of inspirational subject matter. His great love for the outdoors has inspired many of his masterpieces. Landscapes and wildlife have come to life in his art. He does pick his own subjects, but if a customer wants any art work commisioned to your specific needs, he is very willing to help you.
Jerry's art hangs in many homes and offices throughout the world. He not only owns and operates his own gallery, he also paints onsite, does custom art framing, and art appraisels.
